The Effective theory of Critical Superfluids

Aristomenis Donos (Durham University)

Tue Sep 9, 11:00-12:00 (3 months ago)

Abstract: The dynamics of nearly critical superfluids have been extensively studied in the past, in the context of statistical mechanics. I will discuss a covariant effective description which includes the hydrodynamics of the normal phase fluid at wavelengths comparable to the correlation length. I will observe that the construction by Khalatnikov and Lebedev in 1978 was missing a term important to find agreement with holographic calculations.
